Technical and Execution Challenges
The complex nature of the Apadana project presented several key challenges to the execution team:
- High Volume and Tight Schedule: The need for rapid and precise execution of a very large piping volume (over 250,000 dia-inch) within a limited timeframe to meet project delivery milestones.
- Material Diversity: Working with various piping materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and special alloys—each requiring specialized welding, inspection, and testing procedures.
- HSE Requirements: Strict and uncompromising adherence to safety protocols in a high-risk environment, while coordinating simultaneous activities with multiple contractors on site.
Omran Sanat Olia’s Approach and Expertise
To effectively address these challenges, a comprehensive and expertise-driven approach was adopted:
- Scale Management: By deploying specialized welding and installation teams and implementing centralized time-focused management, we achieved one of the highest daily dia-inch productivity rates on the project.
- Rigorous Quality Control (QA/QC): Special emphasis was placed on non-destructive testing (NDT) at every stage of welding to ensure full compliance with engineering drawings and international standards.
- Safety as a Priority: Full implementation of ISO 45001 and HSE-MS standards on site resulted in the successful execution of the project with zero major incidents throughout the operation.
Achievements and Outcome
The successful and on-schedule completion of piping operations at Apadana Petrochemical Complex not only demonstrates Omran Sanat Olia’s capability in delivering large-scale industrial projects, but also stands as a clear example of our engineering expertise in ensuring a reliable and sustainable energy flow for the country.
